Why does bvlc REQUIRE us lacrosse MEMBERSHIP?
Every player and coach is required to be a current member of US Lacrosse--this membership provides important insurance coverage and liability protection to the member and also to BVLC. In order to register, you must have a US Lacrosse membership paid up through at least May 31st.
are girls and boys lacrosse different?
Yes. Although there are many similarities, the rules are fairly different and girls lacrosse does not allow the same level of contact. But make no mistake, girls lacrosse is still a contact sport! Check out this US Lacrosse Prezi video on the differences.
Do I have to live in bay to play for bvlc?
No. While our primary mission is to serve the youth of Bay, and about 93% of our players live and/or go to school in Bay, BVLC is open to boys and girls that:
live in Bay (regardless of where you go to school);
go to school in Bay (BMS, Westerly, St Raphaels) regardless of where you live; and,
subject to availability, kids whose residence city does not have a youth lacrosse program or who otherwise want to play for Bay.
i want to help coach, but don't know anything about lacrosse.
Great! And don't worry about it. While some of our coaches grew up playing or played in college, many did not. We will teach you the game too!
